Tracker detection
A dedicated BLE radio samples advertising packets across the 2.4 GHz band, matching against an on-device library of tracker signatures updated with each firmware release. Rotating-identifier trackers are caught by correlating signal patterns over time rather than by address alone.
Location & What3Words
On activation, the paired phone resolves a GNSS fix (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS) with cell and Wi-Fi assistance, typically to ±4 m in urban areas. That coordinate pair is converted into a What3Words address describing a fixed 3 × 3 m square, and both formats are written into the message.
Alert delivery
Messages are dispatched in parallel over SMS and encrypted push through redundant carriers. If one channel fails, the others still land. Delivery receipts appear in your app so you know who has seen it.
Power architecture
A low-power microcontroller handles scanning at microamp draw and only wakes the radio in bursts. Devices reserve a protected battery floor so an emergency activation is always possible even at 0% displayed charge.
Data handling
Scan history stays on your phone. Location points are retained for 30 days only when an alert was triggered, then permanently deleted. We do not sell data and run no advertising trackers.
Firmware & updates
Signed over-the-air updates, verified on device before install, with automatic rollback if an update fails to boot cleanly.
Emergency GPS system
How coordinates and What3Words are generated
A location is only useful if someone can act on it. We send two representations of the same point so nobody has to interpret anything.
- 1.Activation wakes the positioning stack and requests a high-accuracy fix, falling back progressively to network positioning if satellites are unavailable indoors.
- 2.The fix is validated against recent movement to reject obvious outliers before anything is sent.
- 3.Decimal coordinates are formatted to five places, with the accuracy radius attached in metres.
- 4.The same point is converted to its What3Words address — a fixed 3-metre square that is easy to read aloud over a phone line.
- 5.Both are inserted into the automated message alongside the danger statement and the instruction to contact law enforcement.
- 6.A live link continues updating every 15 seconds until you confirm you are safe.
Automated emergency alert

EMERGENCY — Sofia is in danger and has triggered an Ember Locate alert.
GPS coordinates: 51.50354, -0.12768 (±4 m, updated live)
What3Words: ///filled.count.soap
Please contact law enforcement immediately and pass on the exact coordinates and What3Words address above.
Live location link updates every 15 seconds until Sofia marks herself safe.
Privacy architecture
We designed ourselves out of your location.
The system is built so that, outside an active alert, there is nothing meaningful for us — or anyone else — to look at.
- End-to-end encryption of alert payloads between your phone and your contacts.
- Scan history stored locally, never uploaded.
- No background location permission required for tracker scanning.
- Account deletion removes all associated records within 72 hours.
- Independent annual penetration test; summary report available on request.
